Africa's newest country emerges on the world stage as an independent state ending a brutal and protracted civil war that has drained the country of one of its richest assets fertilizing the country's soil with its people's blood. As we have been reading this semester about the complexity and diversity of Africa's people, and how difficult it is for the continent to embrace globalization and modernity, we must recognize and celebrate along with Sudan as she struggles for a place at the table of the United Nations.
I think this is a great day for the newly established country and think that they are on the right path to becoming a great country in Africa. Also I think it's amazing how quickly a country can form after such a difficult event that has caused much bloodshed.
