Today in the world...North Africa explods in protest

As the new semester ramps up to speed and the United States prepares for it's Presidential Election on November 6, the media is focused on the violence coming from North Africa.

Today on September 14 the American Embassey in Tunsia was being attacked by protesters in the birthplace of the Arab Spring.. For several days violence in Lybia has sadly taken the lives of the American ambassador and several aids as Lybians protest a " you-tube video" that mocks the Islamic traditonn.

As we explore the facinating and complex continent of Africa we are reminded how dynamic and fluid daily life in this part of the world. Drought, famine, revolution and war are just some of the forces affecting Africa on a regular basis. Watching History being made is an incrdible luxory we have in the U.S. as observers of a continent in transition.
